Moving on...

This month has been my final opportunity to show my team the value I have added and leave them with a great impression. Particularly enjoyable has been the team meeting (held quarterly) which brings together members of the team from Bristol, Halifax, Edinburgh and London for some face to face time. I took a leading role in establishing the agenda. This involved communicating with the team to find out what they wanted to hear about and what they would find most useful. I took the opportunity to invite guest speakers along and was delighted that the Operational Risk Director was able to give up half and hour to speak with the team and answer any questions they might have. The whole meeting went without a hitch and I have received some great feedback since.

It’s getting to the exciting time when the General Management graduates find out their next placements! Whilst I am enjoying and developing within my current role, the prospect of what is to come next is really thrilling. Consequentially I am taking my phone with me everywhere I go so as not to miss the call! I will of course let you blog followers know what I shall be doing next and once the placement starts at the end of March will keep you up to date with how things are going.

I am well and truly into my first placement on the General Management programme. After just five weeks I feel like I have learnt so much and made a difference already. My first few weeks consisted of reviewing reports from different Business Units informing the Risk team of the important risks they faced and the controls they had in place to diminish them. For me this was a great way of learning about the structure of the group as I had the opportunity to look at reports from many divisions of the group; after all every action has a risk no matter how big or small! Having had my first week at Lloyds Banking Group, I can’t wait to really get my teeth into the task at hand. My first day consisted of meeting my team in Chiswell Street, London. They are all really friendly, and thankfully, happy to answer any questions I have. [More]

My first placement is as an Assistant Operational Risk Manager based on Chiswell Street in The City.
