It’s getting to the exciting time when the General Management graduates find out their next placements! Whilst I am enjoying and developing within my current role, the prospect of what is to come next is really thrilling. Consequentially I am taking my phone with me everywhere I go so as not to miss the call!  I will of course let you blog followers know what I shall be doing next and once the placement starts at the end of March will keep you up to date with how things are going.

For now though I am getting further involved in the Reporting side within Operational Risk.  The last couple of weeks I have been helping my team in bringing together a Group Operational Risk Report (GORC) this report focuses on the operational risks which carry high impacts and have a high probability of happening.  The report aims to highlight said risks to the Board in monthly meetings.  The process involves analysing data to find any common links causing losses.  There have been changes in the sources and input of information since last month’s report and so more communication with Business Unit Control Functions (BUCFs) has been necessary to ensure the right information is reported on in a timely manner.  I am putting together a process flow which breaks down the way in which the report is constructed to make the reporting for next month simpler and more efficient.  This is also great for me as I am getting to see a process from start to finish.

My project of managing changes to the Operational Risk System is drawing to a close and with the exception of a few unavoidable hiccups I feel that the changes have been implemented and communicated successfully.  Hopefully this is something of a legacy I can leave behind! When I move onto my next role I want to leave my current job with something positive to remember me by and which will be used even after I have left…

I am just starting a new project looking at the way in which Material Events containing sensitive or legally privileged information should be reported & escalated to senior management.  This will we particularly interesting although also very challenging due to the sensitive nature of information.

Hopefully next time I write to you I will have exciting news of a new role!
